Cartoon Icon Baby Isaac Shows Houston's Kids a Healthy Lifestyle with "Learn & Burn: Live"

The Baby Isaac Crew educates kids with an entertaining show.

HOUSTON (Dec. 5, 2012) - With an aim to battle childhood obesity, Uplift Comics lead character Baby Isaac will go live with his "Learn & Burn" program on Dec. 20. The scholastic campaign encourages kids to eat healthy and take part in physical activity through energetic rap shows. Baby Isaac and his fellow costumed mascots will perform in the style of their shows seen on websites such as Houston's Voice.
Since 2010, the Baby Isaac Crew has traveled to Texas schools teaching life lessons on a variety of topics. The crews' messages include "Don't be Rude," (an anti-bullying theme), "Say No to Drugs," and "Brush Your Teeth" among others. The series of assembly programs started with a performance at the AISD African American Heritage Celebration in Austin. The crew currently concentrates its performances in the Houston Independent School District. However, Uplift Comics hopes to take Baby Isaac national in the near future.
Baby Isaac was born when creator Charles Vienn wanted to develop educational entertainment for his two young children. Vienn based the Baby Isaac character on his infant son at the request of his then 5-year-old son. As an educated graphic designer, Vienn partnered up with animator Daryl Thompson of DT Creations to bring Baby Isaac to life. For the character's songs, Vienn utilizes experience earned as a classically trained vocalist during a long and successful music career. He was a singer with the R&B group Ideal, and has worked with other music veterans including Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams. Vienn is proud to have his current work in front of a younger audience. "We make sure we tell the kids what's right," says Vienn. "These are pure hearts. These are pure minds."
The location of "Learn & Burn: Live" is to be determined. Right now, schools are signing up and registering through an online lottery to be considered for the show. Teachers and administrators interested in bringing Baby Isaac to their students are encouraged to apply. For further information on the show, Uplift Comics, or the Baby Isaac crew, visit www.thebabyisaac.com.
