Lamont McCoy
"I Won't Forget"
Kalamazoo, MI - January 2, 2013 -
"Even though I have so many great influences, my style is totally different," says McCoy. "I want to make a different impact on the music world period, not just on the gospel industry."
Evangelist McCoy's honest prayer is that his music ministry reaches everyone from the youngest person to the most seasoned churchgoer, and that "the anointing of the music touches hearts so they will see a part of God's Shekinah Glory."
As member of Trinity Church of God In Christ in Benton Harbor, MI, where he serves as co-pastor under the leadership of Administrative Assistant John E. McCoy, Jr. He serves as Jurisdictional Minister of Music for Michigan Southeast Jurisdiction, where Bishop R.L. Jones is Prelate.
He counts among his musical influences The Clark Sisters, John Legend, Daryl Coley, Kelly Price, John P. Kee, Faith Evans, and his mentor Rose Marie Rimson-Brown. He also studied under the legendary Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and was a member of her Southwest Jurisdictional Mass Choir.
McCoy began his professional music career as a background vocalist for gospel artist Beverly Crawford in the early 90's and has since gone on to work with such legends as Twinkie Clark, Walter Hawkins, Clifton Davis, Lisa Page-Brooks, Jacky Clark-Chisholm, Edwin Hawkins and Vanessa Bell Armstrong.
His style is a traditional with a contemporary twist, with just enough flavor to keep them listening, but with lyrics that will touch the heart and change lives.
In December of 2005, McCoy recorded his solo project, live with special guests Nikki Ross, Jacky Clark-Chisholm and Twinkie Clark. Produced by gospel artist Ernest J. Lee, McCoy wrote 10 of the 12 songs on the upcoming fall release entitled "Holy Is His Name."
His says his prayer is that the people of God are blessed by the ministry that God has given to him and that it reaches every part of the world that need to hear the gospel.
