LEGENDARY ROCK SINGER JOHN SCHLITT
FINDS A FAN IN MIKE HUCKABEE
- Multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist John Schlitt, a recent guest on The Mike Huckabee Show, the popular Cumulus Media radio talk show hosted by Mike Huckabee, learned the former Arkansas governor is a fan after Huckabee played Schlitt's song "Faith and Freedom" during the interview segment.
"I'm really excited about the song...it's my kind of music for sure!" Huckabee said on the air during Schlitt's live radio interview.
Schlitt and Huckabee met when the two shared the stage at the Faith and Freedom Celebration in Tampa, Fla., in August. The legendary rock singer performed at the event, which was hosted by the Florida Faith and Freedom Coalition and held in coordination with the Republican National Convention. During the event, Schlitt sang his song "Faith & Freedom" from his critically-acclaimed CD, The Greater Cause, and met with Republican Party dignitaries, including Huckabee. As the the singer and former governor chatted backstage following Schlitt's performance, Huckabee invited Schlitt to be a guest on his radio show.
During their recent live radio interview, Huckabee talked with Schlitt about the patriotism expressed through the singer/songwriter's music. As Huckabee ended the interview, he urged his audience to listen to Schlitt's music, particularly the single, "Faith and Freedom."
"It's great music...the lyrics remind us of what ought to be at the very heart of our convictions as Americans — that faith and freedom really matter," said Huckabee.
"I love the song!" continued Huckabee. "I will download it from iTunes and share it with friends."
